This podcast series will hopefully help my students improve their English / The podcast series is directed to learners in Germany, attending the upper classes of a grammar school. They cover the most important aspects of the curriculum in Northrhine-Westfalia as well as some interesting pieces of information about the English language. The teacher as well as the students produce them, publishing them irreglularly. We're trying just about one in two weeks.

Digital Voice Recorders can be a powerful assistive tool. They can be used to support students who have difficulty with note taking, recalling instructions or processing information texts. When matching technologies to individual students there should also be consideration to their learning preferences. In this podcast, Dr Mel Levine outlines one example of how a student used voice recordings to tap in to her learning strengths. This is a programme in the "Shambles TECHcast" Podcast series produced by Chris Smithwww.shambles.net/podcastingConversations with Technology and ICT coordinators, managers and directors in International Schools across South East Asia.Episode 7This recording was made in May 2007In this program Chris Smith talks with David Elliott, Director of Educational Technology at Hong Kong International School (HKIS).Chris was in a cybercafe in Bangkok talking to David who was in Hong Kong .... the quality in the cybercafe was disappointing but fortunately it was David that was talking most of the time. This was an unusual sharing of experiences as we drifted away from the usual formula of questions as the session took on the life of a history tour of technology in education in Hong Kong over the past 26 years. Also one of the unusual aspects is that the school has embraced the use of Facebook (social network) and YouTube (video hosting) when most other schools are hesitant about how to manage these resources and have blocked use in school ..... in fact this came up several times in the 45 minutes.David also displays considerable empathy with library and media staff and highlights the importance of information literacy and fluency.David left HKIS in the summer of 2007 and is now available to schools who would like to benefit from the wealth of experience and knowledge he now has ... please feel free to contact him.Links:HKIS: www.hkis.edu.hkDragonNet: http://dragonnet.hkis.edu.hkFacebook:www.facebook.comYouTubes: www.youtube.comLearning 2.0 Conference (Shanghai) :www.learning2.net.cn
