Your Douglas Diaries resumes with a rant about shopping carts.  It was bad enough with regular carts trying to navigate through the narrow isles, but now the carts are big monstrosities made into plastic race cars.  Why is it necessary to entertain children every moment of every day? Just tell them to shut up and behave themselves. No wonder almost every child in America has ADD.  Then, we are all being watched by Big Brother, but what about being yelled at?  In England, they've installed cameras and below the camera is a speaker that admonishes people engaged in nefarious activity. Also, a couple of stories about bad divorces. How about being locked up for 11 years? Or what about hiring someone to kill your ex-wife only to have her strangle the intruder to death with her bare hands? You'll hear about it tonight!

Then, I would be remiss in my duties as a police officer if I didn't comment on the conviction of Raul Gomez-Garcia.  Why is it the jury didn't convict him on the count of attempted first degree murder?

After that...President Bush is assassinated in a new film entitled "Death of a President." How completely inappropriate, wholly immoral, and completely wrong to have a film about the assassination of a sitting president.  It should be illegal to show this movie while this president is in office. I'll play the movie trailer tonight.

Talk about remarks...I'll then equate the above example to Donald Rumsfeld's comments about Iraq war critics suffering from "moral confusion." I like the comments and would have worded them more strongly, but Senator Ken Salazar didn't like the comments and called for Rumsfeld's resignation; give me a break.

Then, a major week for news.  I'll talk about the new guidelines for the TSA and carry-on items. The new rules are fine for now, but we can't outlaw everything.

The main goal should be targeting terrorists before they get to the airport, and our government needs the tools to do that. The Patriot Act, searching of property on public transportation, and warrantless wiretaps are all essential.

We should continue to be vigilant at the airport as well, and part of that is technology, but the other part is interviews and personal interaction. To ensure a high success rate, Muslims, especially young males should be profiled. It's not fair, but neither is life.  After all, not all Muslims are terrorists, but so far all terrorists have been Muslims.
