This is a very personal bit of writing and, now, reading! I come right out and state that I am a Christian; I consider myself a Neo-Gnostic Christian (There is a Gnostic Church out there which grew, primarily, out of Alestair Crowley's following. I'm in no way affiliated or similar to these groups, hence my use of the prefix "Neo"). This second half of my book explains what that means and why I label myself as such. I believe God is Love. This chunk of reading ends with several New testament bits that reflect that teaching.

There is more to come from this second section of the book. "Neo Gnosis" is not for everyone... but then again it never has been. I may come off preachy and holier than thou, here. I cannot apologize for that. It is what it is, take it or leave it.

The Final Chapter of Vatican Assassin!

Milestone after milestone! Thanks for listening up thrpugh the grand finale of my first novel, Vatican Assassin! If you'll allow me a little text: I began producing these Glow-in-the-Dark Radio podcasts at the start of September to promote my books. I had just published Synthetic Marmalade, my collection of poems, song lyrics and spells. Vatican Assassin was out, but sales had slowed, and I was completeing the reader's draft of the second book in my science fiction trilogy, Vatican Ambassador. I had also been out of full time radio work since mid June, and although I'd been working part-time at The Point (WNCS) since late July, I missed  crafting audio, entertaining people and broadcasting. Inspired by podcasts I was discovering, like Augie DeBliek's Pipeline Podcast, and The Babylon 5 Podcast, I sought out more info. I found ClickCaster.com, where I could do it for free. So I bought the minimal equipment needed on top of what I had, experimented, and went to it. Now, here we are, 50 of these things later! It's been a learning process. I hope they've gotten better and better as I've gone along. Click Caster lets you see stats on where people are listening. It's been amazing to me to see that people around the world are listening to the podcast, and checking out my fiction and my songs... Thank You ALL!

Well, it's painfully evident I need some new guitar strings... my old ones are nearly dead. But they make one valiant, last effort on "Always, Again". One cautionary note: I love this song, but haven't really been able to quite nail it down, yet. Recorded it in one take today, but... well, I think it gets stronger as it goes. It's another tune I'd like to expand into a full band arrangement... think that might serve it better than my solo bashing here. It's taken me a little while to get this Episode together... mostly due to the fact that everything that could go wrong did as I tried to record the little ditty I've included today, "Away". It finally came out okay, the second verse/chorus better than the first, but it was a true exercise in frustration... and stubborness. I was determinde to get it done! All for just over two and a half minutes (this is one tune I could definitely hear expanded into a full band arrangement... this version is its seed). The poem I read today is almost three times as long! The words of "Book of Spells" and "Away" are both found in my collection, Synthetic Marmalade. There's been a few days break in between podcasts... I was working on the air on The Point, my radio gig, the last four days and there was no time! Plus, I'm still fighting this stupid cold. I'd heard from folks who've had it that it lingers... and it does! Grrr... 

 

Speaking of grrr... "Don't Look For The Son" comes from a "Grr" sort of place. It's an old tune I wrote when I was mad at a friend, pissed off about an ex girfriend, and feeling sorry for myself.  Interesting thing about writing an angry song: the anger dissipates; bringing the anger out and putting it into a song expends the emotion. Better still, years later you read it and it's all pretty silly...

 

"Ceremonies of Light and Dark: Autumnal Equinox" is ritual poetry, a spell for the Autumnal Equinox, celebrating fleeting balance.

...And so on. Inspiration strikes in odd ways, sometimes. One note on the performance: I go a little flat at the start of the song (sorry), and I would have recut it but my voice is almost gone. But if you can make it through that first bit of the tune, I promise, it gets better!

The second thing is a cycle of poems called "The Disturbance and The Aftermath."

The clouds of billowing dust

Coated the running escaping.

 

Many were killed in the blasts,

Innocents used by Bin Laden.

Better, then, covered in dust,

Then lost in the ruins of the breaking.

 

After the vicious attacks

By the cowardly demon Bin Laden,

All of them, covered in dust,

Coughing, and choking, and shaking…

 

Today we all are gray.

The dust took the color away.
